God always answers prayer. It is not always the answer we want. I try to remember that our God is far more merciful and gratious and loving than I can conceive in my feeble, mortal brain. I have faith that God does what He does for the most merciful and compassionate reasons. But, they aren’t always apparent to me. Why does He take one and leave another? Only He knows.
Praise God.
Hello fellow aviator, I love searching for aviation blogs and yours is pretty good. Very attractive as well, wordpress is such a good program. Just wanted to ask a non aviation question. If god’s answers are always yes, no, or maybe later, then what’s the difference in no god at all?
To quote Epicurus:
“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”
You’re to put God in a little box and make Him conform to your understanding. God never issues a “maybe” answer, that’s a distinctly human thing. He isn’t some cosmic magic 8 ball that issues arbitrary answers. He is perfect so His judgements are perfect. You and I are not perfect so we cannot always understand His judgements.
God only does things that demonstrate His glory to us. A lot of good things have come about as a result of my friend’s passing. Plus, my friend is rejoicing with the Lord at this very moment. That is glorious!
That doesn’t sound so malevolent.
